‘Help Us to Save the Totally Protected Species’

Totally Protected Species defined as species which are in the danger of extinction due to hunting and habitat destruction. They are now extremely rare. Everyone’s help and contribution is needed to ensure their survival in this world.

In Sarawak, Totally Protected Species may not be kept as pets, hunted, captured, killed, sold, imported or exported, or disturbed in any way, and nor may you possess any recognizable part of these animals. The penalties for any of these offences are severe:

For a rhinoceros, a fine of RM50,000 and five years imprisonment
For an orangutan or proboscis monkey, a fine of RM 30,000 and 2 years imprisonment
For all other species, a fine of RM25,000 and 3 years imprisonment.
