MIRI, 12 JUNE 2017 – Residents of Kuala Niah could now heave a sigh of relief as the Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) of SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation (SFC) had successfully removed a 15-foot male crocodile from Sg. Lajong, Kuala Niah near here yesterday afternoon.
“Responding to a report last week of a big croc lurking in the waters of the said river from the Bekenu Constituency Office, our SWAT from SFC Miri sprang into action, setting up three baited hooks last Friday, 9 June 2017,” said a statement issued by SFC.
“The male croc finally took one of the baits yesterday morning and was subsequently pulled ashore at 12.00 pm. The croc measuring all of 15 feet in length was thereafter transferred to the Benaya Crocodile Farm,” the statement added.
The SFC statement went on to thank the villagers and Malaysia Civil Defence Force personnel who had assisted in this successful removal operation.
