18 February 2019: SARAWAK FORESTRY was invited by Ta Ann to visit their forest plantation at Naman Camp of LPF010 in Sibu on 18 February 2019; led by CEO and accompanied by Dr Paul Chai, DGM Hj Nizam, DGM Julaihi Abdullah, Rudolf, Millicent Abdullah and Phui Seng Loi.
The main purpose of the visit was to observe the roadside planting of kelampayan and intercropped-planting of kelampayan with oil palm. Roadside planting of kelampayan is seen to be successful in the peat swamp area.
The group has also visited collaborative research trials established under Planted Forest Research Program (PFRP) project planting with Eucalyptus pellita, Acacia mangium, Acacia crassicarpa, Acacia auriculiformis and Neolamarckia cadamba. The Acacia species seem to perform better as compared to other tested species under the project.
