In light of the approaching rainy season, we would like to bring your attention to the increase in the population of crocodiles and their activities in our region from November and expected until March. This period coincides with their breeding season, making them more active and potentially bringing them into closer proximity to residential areas.
Please remain vigilant, secure livestock away from water, and report sightings promptly. Dispose of waste responsibly to avoid attracting crocodiles. Improper disposal of trash and debris in rivers attracts crocodiles to come nearer to housing areas. Continuous rain leads to higher water levels, making it easier for crocodiles to move further on land. Animals and livestock near water sources can attract crocodiles, especially during the breeding season.
Let us work together to create a safer environment for all communities. If you have any concerns or encounter any crocodile-related issues, please contact the SFC hotline.
