A warm welcome to all of you to the SAFOREC Inter Sports Carnival hosted in Kuching. I’m delighted to see all of you here as we kick off this wonderful event, which marks a special moment for us, especially after a challenging three-year break due to COVID-19.
As the CEO of Sarawak Forestry Corporation, I’m greatly proud of the unity and resilience on display today. We’ve all faced trying times during the pandemic, and our thoughts go out to those who suffered. I also want to acknowledge the dedication of our healthcare workers and first responders.
Throughout these challenging years, SFC remained committed to its mission of conserving our natural resources. We didn’t waver in our efforts to protect the incredible biodiversity of Sarawak’s TPAs.
Now, as we emerge from these difficult times, we’re reminded of the power of resilience and the human spirit. We’re here today not just as athletes, but as a community, ready to inspire each other.
Sports have the power to bring people together, transcending differences. This event is about more than just competition; it’s about unity and support. I’m grateful to all participants and supporters for making this event possible.
This carnival serves as a clear demonstration of how our core values are deeply ingrained within Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and the wider community. Integrity, kindness, professionalism, a sense of urgency and ownership, team spirit, and a result-oriented approach are not mere words but the bedrock of our actions. These values go beyond this carnival and impact our daily lives and work at SFC, shaping our culture and fostering a community where these principles drive our mission to conserve our natural resources.
