Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Salam Sarawak Maju Makmur, Ladies & Gentlemen
Today is an important day as we gather to plant trees at our office. Taking care of the environment is both our duty and a privilege. We’re starting this tree planting program because we’re committed to a greener future.
First of all, I want to say a big thank you to the YSEALI Council of Malaysia for helping and volunteering. There are about 60 volunteers which comprises of Lecturers, Students and others. Your dedication to the environment is inspiring, and we’re lucky to have you as partners.
When the Movement Control Order (MCO) made things difficult, we found comfort in the beauty around our office. Something special happened here. We compiled a book about the different birds in our area, showing how diverse and rich our surroundings are.
We want to turn this place into a Nature Reserve, showing how much we care about the environment. It’s not just about keeping a home for at least 33 species of birds, in this area of 6.6 ha. which some of them are protected species such as Collared Kingfisher & Intermediate Egret (Bangau) and many more.
What we want to do here is something to help the bird. We want to protect this special area and make it a place where both nature and people can thrive.
Planting trees is great for our immediate environment. Trees clean the air by taking in carbon dioxide and giving out oxygen. This makes our workplace healthier and more sustainable by reducing carbon emissions.
Trees also make our office look nicer. A green and well-kept area doesn’t just look good; it also makes a peaceful space for our employees. Studies show that being close to nature can make people feel better, work better, and be less stressed. By investing in our office’s greenery, we’re investing in our employees’ well- being.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our office. As an organization dedicated to forestry, we know how important trees are for keeping our environment in balance. Planting trees here helps with sustainable forestry, connecting us with the diverse ecosystems of Sarawak.
Remember, sustainability isn’t a one-time thing—it’s a promise we keep making. The trees we plant today will be a gift for the future, giving shade, homes for animals, and benefits for many years.
In the end, today’s tree planting is more than just a symbol. It’s a real step towards a greener future. By making our office area green, we’re not only helping ourselves but also joining a bigger effort to fight climate change and protect our diverse environment.
Wabillahi taufik walhidayah Wassalammualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Thank you.
